The African Civil Society Network on Water and Sanitation – ANEW will co-organize an online regional advocacy workshop for North American NGOs and CSOs working in the water sector on November 24, 14:00 – 16:00 (Nairobi time / UTC+3)
This workshop is part of a larger influencing process led by the Butterfly Effect coalition, and aims to enable NGOs and CSOs to speak with one voice and influence decision-makers for positive and ambitious changes in favor of better water resources management and sanitation and concrete implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda.
This meeting will deepen the messages identified in an online consultation conducted by the Butterfly Effect during the summer 2021 and will bring out concrete policy demands that the Butterfly Effect and its members can advocate for at a high level.
The Butterfly Effect has notably identified two main targets:
- The 9th World Water Forum Heads of State Summit (Dakar, March 2022): a political initiative launched by Senegalese President Macky Sall to foster high-level political mobilization at the upcoming 2022 World Water Forum.
- The 2023 UN Water Decade Conference (New York, March 2023): the first global intergovernmental conference on water since 1977 and the most strategic platform for states’ commitment to achieving the goals of SDG6.
The results of this workshop will enable the Butterfly Effect to develop a policy paper compiling and federating the policy priorities expressed by civil society.
If you are an NGO or CSO active in the water sector or interested in water issues, join us and help shape civil society’s policy demands!
